The Students’ Physiological Association of Nigeria, Olabisi ONABANJO University Chapter, organized the Maiden edition of its Interlevel Quiz Competition amongst its students themed:
BATTLE OF THE BRAINS,this is to promote an enjoyable atmosphere of learning through friendly competition, giving participants from each levels the chance to earn the Prestige, The Bragging Rights Of who the Brain really is.
As part of the enormous packages promised by the SK led administration to the student populace of the Department of Physiology, OOU, an Interlevel Quiz Competition was organized by the SPAN Academic Committee which took place on the 11th day of June, 2024 in the Lecture Theater 2 of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.
The event started at exactly 10:00 am Prompt as planned and of course opened by some sentences of prayer by Deborah Joshua of the 400L Physiologyclass.
The Master of Ceremony, Sodunke Olajide of the 300L Physiology class started the program proper by calling on the incumbent President, Saheed Daniel to give the welcome speech.
After an excellently delivered welcome speech from the President, came the introduction of the brilliantly prepared contestants, fair quizzers Usman, PKA OmoluabiDoctor 400 Level MBBS and Miss Adenuga Teniola, 300L Physiology, a panel of unbiased judges; Akinyele Aishat, 300L, Odede Christianah,(400L) and Nathaniel Ayomipo, 200L the accurate time keeper Babatunde Emmanuel, 200L.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the SUG VP 2, BAMSSA President, BAMSSA Sports Director, Social Director and some other notable personalities, the SPAN Alumni President, Mr Inioluwa Calebs (B.Sc Physiology, M.Sc Public Health, and some lectures from the Department of Physiology of the host school, in persons of Mr O.A Soetan (B.Sc. Physiology) and Miss Edema Victoria (B.Sc. Physiology).
After the Quiz master have stated the do’s and don’ts of the quiz to the contestants and the audience, the quiz proceeded with the 200L going first, then the 300L and lastly the 400L, it went on in that order.
The contestants were quizzed on questions from Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology and General Knowledge. After an intensive session, all three levels came out with a tie of 65points each which proves the level of preparedness of the contestants, refreshments were then served to everyone present.
A 30 minuites break was given,and the last section of the quiz which was the General Knowledge commenced, the tie was definitely broken at this point leaving the 200L contestants more to hope for, the 400L, giving up the dream of winning and the 300L, victorious!
As expected, the 300L students were pumped with joy as they celebrated their victory with the DJ giving a mix of his carefully selected music.
The first and second runner ups were then presented with Certificates of Participation while the Victors went home with a cash price of Thirty thousand Naira Only (30,000).
The occasion ended with a superb vote of thanks from the Vice President, Andrew Winnerman, thanking everyone that was present for taking out time out of their very busy schedule to attend the occasion, the first of its kind and a remarkable closing remark from the President stating the essence of this kind of occasions, laying emphasis that there are more to anticipate and wished everyone that was present journey mercies to their respective destinations.
