The Students’ Physiological Association of Nigeria, Olabisi Onabanjo University Chapter, recently organized a one-day Physiological seminar titled “The Physiological Basis of Addiction and Effects of Specific Substances on the Nervous System” on March 4th, 2024, at the 400 Level Physiology Lecture Hall, OOUTH Sagamu,Ogun state. The seminar aimed to explore the effects of addiction to specific substances on the human nervous system and propose solutions.
The program commenced at 10:30 am with a welcome address by Andrew Winnerman, the Vice President,SPAN OOU Chapter, who introduced the topic and emphasized the importance of understanding the effects of substances on the nervous system. Dignitaries present included Samuel Olalekan, a Cardiopulmonary Physiologist, and Inioluwa Caleb,a Public Health Specialist, who served as subject specialists for the seminar.
After two hours of insightful presentations, refreshments were served, and the occasion concluded with a Q&A session. Saheed Daniel, President of SPAN,OOU Chapter, delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to everyone for their participation and promising more seminars to enlighten students about the role of Physiology in the global health sector.
